Honda To Invest and expand Motorcycle and Car Production in India


Honda Motor Co Ltd said on friday that it might invest 9.65 billion rupees ($154 million) to expand its motorbike and automobile production in india, to cater to growing demand in Asia's third-largest economy.

The Japanese auto maker said its unit, Honda motorbike & Scooters India, would pay 5.85 billion rupees to lift annual production capability to 2.4 million units at its manufacturing plant in Narsapura area of south india. The move can provide around 2,000 jobs.




Meanwhile, its automobile unit, Honda Cars India has restricted, can invest three.8 billion rupees to lift capability by 50 % to 180,000 units a year at its Rajasthan firm in northern Republic of India. It can rent an additional 600 workers.

The moves can facilitate increase Honda\'s overall annual production capability in india to 6.4 million motorbikes and 300,000 vehicles.
